We are seeking an experienced, well-qualified US University entrance exam Tutors to join the Dukes US Applications team, with a primary focus on the SAT, ACT and SAT II subject tests.  You will work alongside the Managing Director to prepare students for SAT and ACT subject tests as part of their application to US Universities.

Duties and key responsibilities:

  • Delivery of one-to-one tuition sessions with UK secondary school students preparing for the SAT or ACT tests.
  • Assessment of mock exams.
  • Create and manage bespoke programmes and schedules for students to ensure positive outcomes for students.
  • Typical commitment ranges from 2-6 hours per week per student - preference will be given to tutors willing to take on multiple students and committing to a total of 6 or more hours per week.
  • To be considered for our distance tuition pool, candidates will need access to a personal computer with webcam & reliable high-speed internet and able to demonstrate experience with web technology.    
  • Tutoring can take place at Dukes Education Group offices in central London, online or in the student's home.

Role Requirements:

  • Top-level college graduate.
  • Knowledge of the US secondary and higher education systems.
  • Experience with all sections of the SAT and/or ACT tests (700+ on all SAT sections or 31+ overall on ACT).
  • Willingness to teach all sections of the exam(s).    
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Prior successful tutoring experience - supported by references.   
  • Strong interpersonal skills and flexible approach to different learning styles.
  • Knowledge and use of successful teaching strategies and techniques.   
  • Familiarity with internet phone technology – FaceTime, Skype, Google Hangout etc.
  • Passion for teaching and learning – one academic year commitment.

Gianluca has more than 22 years’ experience in international education, inspiring large audiences with his motivational talks on leadership and marketing and sales, a field which is his passion. 

Born in Sansepolcro, Toscana, in Italy, Gianluca holds a degree in Sociology, Communication, and Mass-Media from the Università degli Studi di Urbino “Carlo Bo" and he is also a Licensed Trainer in Neuro-Linguistic Programming with Richard Bandler.

Marie-Louise Banning

Marie-Louise is an expert in international applications to universities in the UK. She has worked in international education for over 30 years, specialising in the International Baccalaureate. From 2000-2010 she was Principal of Schools in Cambridge Education Group, and was a Member of the Board from 2005.

Alicia Luba

Alicia Luba is the Consultancy Director at Dukes Education and has been working with students, families and our corporate partners since 2013. She is an expert on Oxbridge Applications as well as Schools Placements and UK universities, having travelled around the world advising students and parents on our behalf. Alicia has worked in the key territories of Nigeria, China, the Gulf states and, most recently, Russia. She has a first-class degree from Oxford in English Literature and an MA from Kings College London specialising in Shakespeare.

Candida Cave

Candida trained at the Ruskin School of Art, Oxford and studied History of Art with the University of Buckingham. She founded the College with a colleague in 1978 and has been Principal of the College since then. Candida is also a practising painter & playwright. Her plays have been performed at the Royal Academy, British Museum, Tate Britain, the National Portrait Gallery, London theatres, and for the British Councils in Florence, Bologna & Rome.
